The art director preferred the photographs I made in my hotel room to the traditional studio shots. He added that I exhibited Japanese sensibilities by using the warm tones and focusing on the rice instead of the fish. I didn’t tell him it was an accident. Somewhat inscrutable, but worth the trip to Japan.
